Portal terms of use

Version of 29 October 2026 · Nationwide Energy Consultants, trading as Nationwide Energy

These terms cover using the Nationwide Portal at portal.nationwide-energy.co.uk, and its iPhone app when that is available. The portal is provided by Nationwide Energy Consultants, trading as Nationwide Energy ("Nationwide Energy", "we"). Our registered office and company number are [legal to confirm].

"You" means the business named on the portal account, and "user" means anyone who signs in to it for that business.

1. The service

  • The portal shows information about your energy: your sites and meters, consumption, bills and how they were checked, supply contracts, renewals, budgets, purchasing and reports.
  • It is part of the energy management service we provide to you under your agreement with us. If these terms and that agreement disagree, the agreement wins [legal to confirm].
  • We may add, change or remove parts of the portal. We will tell you before we remove something you rely on.

2. Authority to get your data

By using the portal, you authorise Nationwide Energy to obtain and receive your meter, consumption, contract and billing data under the letter of authority published at portal.nationwide-energy.co.uk/legal/loa. That includes data for all your meters and supply points, whether or not their contracts were arranged through us.

Your account owner accepts the letter of authority in the portal for you. Until they do, we may still use information you have given us, or that we already hold for you, to provide the service [legal to confirm].

3. Your account and users

  • Your account owner decides who in your business can sign in, and what each person can see. They can add and remove people on the People page, or ask your account manager.
  • Each user signs in with their own email address and a one-time code. Users must not share sign-ins or codes.
  • You are responsible for what your users do in the portal, and for removing people who leave your business.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone has signed in who shouldn't have.

4. Information in the portal

  • We take care to make the information accurate, and every figure says where it came from and how up to date it is. But much of it comes from suppliers, meter operators and data services, and may be late, estimated or wrong. Readings marked as estimated are not actual meter readings.
  • Bill checks flag charges that look wrong against your contract and the rules we know about. A check passing doesn't guarantee a bill is right, and a check failing doesn't guarantee it is wrong. Talk to your account manager before withholding payment from a supplier.
  • Forecasts, budgets and market prices are estimates, not promises.
  • Demo accounts show synthetic data, labelled as demo. It is not real.

5. Acceptable use

Users must not:

  • try to see another business's information, or get round the portal's access controls
  • copy the portal's data in bulk by automated means, except through exports and the API we provide
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful or containing malware
  • interfere with the portal or its security.

We may suspend a user who breaks these rules, and will tell your account owner.

6. Your data

  • Your energy data stays yours. You can export it from the portal, or ask your account manager for a copy.
  • We use it to provide our service to you, as described in our agreement with you and the letter of authority. We don't sell it.
  • How we handle personal data, and which service providers host and process it, is in the privacy notice at portal.nationwide-energy.co.uk/legal/privacy.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the portal available at all times, but it may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. When a data source can't be reached, the portal says so and shows the last copy it has.

8. Liability

[legal to confirm: limitation of liability wording, and how it sits with the liability terms in the client's energy management agreement.]

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

9. Ending access

  • Access ends when your agreement with us ends, or when you ask us to close your account.
  • After that we keep your data for the period set out in the privacy notice, then delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
  • The letter of authority runs for a short period after the account closes, as it says.

10. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we publish the new version here with a new version date, and the portal asks your account owner to accept it.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction [legal to confirm].
